Redeeming October
Will you pray the Rosary with me?
October is here. Once upon a not so distant time, I had a dread of October. This month was filled with anniversaries of the traumatic kind not celebratory. By the grace of God and the persistent yet gentle healing of the Bridegroom, October has been redeemed for me. Through my ministry at Hope’s Garden, I have met many women for whom October is also filled with dread. My heart aches for them and I want them to experience the healing and redemption of Christ the Bridegroom too. So I have collaborated with Jenny duBay of Create Soul Space to promote an October Rosary Campaign for the healing of hearts, marriages, and families.
On the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church, the entire month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. October is also Respect Life Month—and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I don’t think this is coincidence. I believe the Lord wants us to know that respect for life must go beyond respect for the unborn. We must have respect and even reverence every human life at every age. Life begins in the family and so the family carries the responsibility for proclaiming this message.

Too many families have become schools of disrespect, manipulation, and abuse. St. John Paul II and Pope Francis have both stated that our families and homes must be schools of love. Jenny and I are hoping to inspire as many individuals and organizations as possible to pray a daily Rosary for peace in homes and for the healing of hearts, marriages, and families.
The tragic pornography epidemic has drastically increased the rates of physical and sexual abuse within marriages and families. As Catholics we know the Rosary is the most powerful weapon against this evil.

Hope’s Garden and Create Soul Space offer resources, coaching, spiritual direction, and support groups for women impacted by domestic abuse and Betrayal Trauma. Our hope is that women will have access to healing and restoration in Christ and that all homes will be schools of authentic love.
